How Long Does It Take to Paint a House?

April 20, 2017

More often than not house painting can sound like a dreadful, time-consuming process. But the truth is, it all depends on how well prepared you are for the task at hand. Depending on the size of your house, painting it can take just as little as a few days

Still, a few days can sound like too much for those of you who feel like 24 hours aren’t enough to burn through your to-do list. After all, having your house full of materials and workers can be very tiring, not to mention downright invasive to your personal privacy. While in some cases you don’t have to lift a finger to paint your home, having it turned upside down can keep you from focusing on your work.

With that in mind, here is what you need to consider if you want to get your house painted in as little time as possible.

  1.       Prepare the House

If you want to speed up the process, then it would be a good idea to prep the house before the contractor arrives. Just think about the hours they’ll lose removing things that stand in their way, such as climbing plants, benches, etc.

At Fitzpatrick Painting, we are more than happy to help with this but depending on your timeline, it may benefit you to be aware of the prep process!

  1.       Communicate with Your Contractor

Having everything well established before the start of the project can help your contractor plan and properly prepare. For example, you need to tell them if there are any repairs required before they can start painting the house.

Letting your contractor know what he needs to do instead of confronting him with a “fait accompli” will ease the process and make it more transparent for both of you.

  1.       Make the Job Easier for the Contractor

You want your house painting to turn out perfectly – it’s hard not to worry about things going wrong. While it is always a good idea to be there in case anything needs to be clarified, you should let the contractor do his or her job. That means keeping the space free, especially of kids or pets, and making sure nothing obstructs the painting work. It also means trusting the contractor that he’ll do an excellent job.

  1.       Pay Attention to the Weather

While this is one factor you can’t control, you always need to consider it when estimating house painting duration. Depending on the season and the weather in the area you live in, house painting can take just a few days or require more time. Factors such as rain or dust can drag on the process for longer than expected.

If you take all the points above into consideration, then you can expect to have your entire house painted in about 3-4 days. Make sure you keep everything going smooth on your side and your contractor will surely rise to the expectations. If you’d like to get a free estimate from our qualified team, click here !
